Stella Tennant and Isabella Cawdor, the creative directors of Holland & Holland travelled to Cordoba in central Argentina to shoot the new Spring Summer collection. The multi-hued light, expansive vistas reaching out to the foothills of the Sierra Chicas offered rich inspiration.
Holland & Holland is about travelling, outdoor sports and exploring. The Spring Summer collection is designed to meet the challenges of an active life in the great outdoors with stylish pieces that are beautifully executed and ‘fit for purpose.’ Spring sees the evolution of the staples in the line including his and hers tailored quilted shooting vests, multi pocketed gilets, light layering T shirts in stripes, hard wearing herringbone denim, sensual silk blouses, elegant khaki cotton culottes, and plus fours. New additions to the collection include crisp cotton Soyella shirting in azure blue, tailored linen pieces and supple suede over shirts.
Tennant and Cawdor continue their collaboration with British and Scottish mills including Barrie knitwear and Lovat tweeds to develop the specialist ‘noble’ fabrics and the subtle colourways. “The colours were lab dipped for us – to get the perfect Swedish green for the cotton twills, the perfect red for silk shirtings and the perfect buff for the down gilets,” says Cawdor.
A new spring weight Prince of Wales check tweed is introduced for men’s suiting and also features as a snappy boxy jacket and wide trouser silhouette for women. There are his and hers zip windcheaters, diamond pattern cashmeres, cuffed walking shorts in linen or cotton twill, rain repellant nylon topped sweatshirts and handsome flak jackets. Detailing including capacious pockets, piping and fastenings is refined yet functional, never superfluous.
Accessories are made for action with oval toed canvas hi-tops, peaked caps, herringbone denim skate sneakers, pony skin walking shoes as well as bright silk neckerchiefs, backpacks and fisherman’s bags. At Holland & Holland, adventures are always beginning.
